Dundee Comics Day And Commando Art Exhibition

The fifth annual Dundee Comics Day will be taking place in the Tower Building of Dundee University on Sunday 30 October 2011 as part of the Dundee Literary Festival.

This will include the Commando Battlelines exhibition of artwork from DC Thomson's war comic that is celebrating its 50th birthday this year. This free Commando exhibition will be running in the Tower Building's Foyer gallery from 1 October through to 19 November.

Entitled Wot Comics Taught Me, the schedule for the Dundee Comics Day has just been announced and the talks on the day are as follows -

11.00: Writer and comics historian Paul Gravett on his new book 1001 Comics You Must Read Before You Die
11.30: Burke & Hare writer Martin Conaghan and artist Will Pickering
13.00: Writer John Wagner
13.30: Writer Robbie Morrison
14.00: Artist Colin MacNeil
14.30: Break / book signing by Colin MacNeil, Paul Gravett, John Wagner, Robbie Morrison, Martin Conaghan and Will Pickering
15.00: Gallery talk on Battlelines Exhibition, featuring artwork from Commando Comics
15.20: Phil Vaughan, Jamie Bryan and Tiger Games
15.50: Artist Cam Kennedy
16.20: Artist Frank Quitely
17.30: Announcement of Dundee Comics Prize Winners and wine reception

Tickets for the day cost £10 for adults and £5 for under 13s and are available now from the University of Dundee's online store.
