- Sneak Preview
I'm delighted to let downthetubes readers know that a special sampler of STRIP Magazine Issue 1, Print Media Productions new British comics anthology, on sale from 20th October 2011 in all good UK comic shops, is now online.

As some of you know, I'm the editor of this new Magazine which has been a long time in the making, but it's finally on its way.

STRIP Magazine Issue 1 is a 68-page issue, featuring comics by PJ Holden, John McCrea, Phil Hester, James Hudnall, John Ridgway, Jon Rushby, Mauricet, Keith Page, Stephen Walsh and others - including a re-presentation of the classic Action strip, Hookjaw. It comes with a pullout Warpaint mini-poster by John McCrea and a dazzling giant poster promoting Mirabilis, one of our ongoing graphic album series.

I'd like to thank everyone for their patience and support for this project and I do hope you'll check out the print edition when it appears in your local comic shop.

The online sampler features pages of some of the strips - plus feature spreads from an exclusive interview with artist PJ Holden and our feature on 1970s comic Action - to give you a taster of the new title.

Also revealed are the first winners of the magazine's STRIP Challenge - David and Graham Stoddart, whose Agent Syber features in Issue 1. Pages from this great strip feature in the sampler.

There are still some strips to be decided but we have agreed on the first three winning strips - now I just need to convince publisher Ivo Milicevic about three more!

• To order the print magazine, give your UK comic shop this Diamond Previews order code: JUL117915.

• You'll be able to subscribe to the Magazine from the title's web site, which launches soon - www.printmediaproductions.com. This currently redirects to their blog

You really need a better title than "Strip Magazine". That's just too ambiguous... "Excuse me Mr Newsagent, do you have Strip Magazine?". He'd start rummaging on the top shelf... most embarrassing.

Go for a classic title. Something like Victor, Vulcan or Valiant would be good.

Goodness me, I can't believe newsagents have such dirty minds.

STRIP Magazine is an extension of Print Media's brand in Europe where they publish 'STRIP Magazin' (http://www.stripmagazin.com).

Really looking forward to this - How do I subscribe? Good Luck with this John

Hmm, let me think. Strip Magazine... A magazine full of comic strips. Nope, still can't see a problem.

I would love to subscribe to this as I really cant see this getting any space over at the newsagents in my area (unless of course it has a tie in with a current tv series and and tonne of free plastic tat on the front cover). Anyway - any chance of ordering it directly?

Hi Andy - the initial issues will only be available in comic shops and by ordering single copies or subscribing via www.printmediaproductions.com - this full web site goes live soon (the URL currently redirects to this blog).

The plan is to relaunch in 2012 for the new stand but we know we face stiff competition for space and that needs to be done very carefully.

Individual comic shops will probably also offer it mail order - First Age in Lancaster has been doing a brisk trade in our graphic albums already!

Good luck with this John and co. God knows that Britain needs its comics industry to increase (so hopefully the almighty will place a subscription!).

Hello John. The link still redirects back to this blog. Any advice on how I can order a copy? Cheers . Andy

www.printmediapructions.com is now live. Still some wrinkles, no option to order a single copy as yet. Forbidden Planet Belfast, First Age Lancaster, Travelling Man and Forbidden Planet London are all stores I know are stocking it.
