Confess, creeps - you want to buy the new 2000AD...

On UK newsagents shelves, online, and via iOS app –  2000AD Prog 1802 is on sale now.

The steely glare of Dredd stares out from this latest Prog, which lands today, and Dolman is settling his differences with the Marines in Judge Dredd: Payback by Michael Carroll and PJ Holden.

Cadwallader meets a fiery end in Brass Sun: The Wheel of Worlds by Ian Edginton and I.N.J. Culbard, while Hammerstein heads back to the mother planet in ABC Warriors: Return to Earth by Pat Mills and with glorious old school hand-drawn art by Clint Langley. Diplomatic immunity gets pushed to its limit over tea and biscuits in Grey Area: This Island Earth Dan Abnett and Lee Carter, while Bob Byrne returns to 2000AD with another of his Twisted Tales.

And after an unfortunate production error (for which the droid in question has been melted down and turned into colostomy fittings), Tharg the Generous is giving fans a free download of last week’s episode of Judge Dredd: Payback by Michael Carroll and PJ Holden!

Megazine reaps new Pat Mills and Clint Langley SF thrller

(with thanks to Pat Mills, via Matt Badham): American Reaper, by Pat Mills and Clint Langley, starts running monthly in Judge Dredd Megazine from 12th October 2011.

Pat says it's a dark science fiction thriller about future cops - known as Reapers - hunting down criminals  who carry out illegal identity transplants.  With the digitisation of consciousness, the old, the sick and the rich are able to occupy the bodies of healthy teenagers and enjoy a new lease of life.

There are even controversial plans to legalise ID transplants, with young prisoners on Death Row paying their debt to society by "donating" their bodies to the great and the good.

Produced by Repeat Offenders Ltd - a company formed by Pat, Clint and producer Jeremy Davis - and optioned as a movie by Xingu Films (producers of the superb Moon, and A Guide To Recognising Your Saints), Pat and Clint have produced a cinematic graphic novel series, and Pat feels Clint has surpassed himself on the art fron for this project.

The strip includes advert extras by Fay Dalton (winner of the 2010 Pickled Ink agency's Pickled Award, who's also working on the graphic novel Party Girls), featuring the Reapers' sinister Stop & Scan laws and the mysteries of hologram download dresses that are the height of teenage fashion in 2062.

Fay Dalton poster
Xingu says the film version of American Reaper was brought to them as a short pitch from Pat  with some sample art from Clint. "Immediately captivated by the exciting premise, and the exceptional track record of the creative team involved, Xingu came on board not only to commission a screenplay, but also to raise the financing for the graphic novel itself. A departure for our company, but another sign of our flexibility when it comes to how best to get the stories we believe in made."

Mills, Langley Signing at Forbidden Planet London

ABC Warriors: The Volgan WarForbidden Planet has just announced a signing by Pat Mills and artist Clint Langley to mark the publication of ABC Warriors: The Volgan War Volume 2 at the Forbidden Planet Megastore, 179 Shaftesbury Avenue, London, WC2H 8JR, on Saturday 27th February 1 – 2pm.

The Meknificent Seven are ever-closer to retrieving their comrade Zippo from Marineris, ‘the ugliest city in the galaxy’; Deadlock and Blackblood recount dark tales from their involvement in the Volgan War. And, whilst past secrets create new hostilities within the team, an ex-ABC Warrior nursing a big grudge commits the ultimate act of betrayal!

Pat Mills remains best known, for many British comics fans, as the creator and first editor of 2000AD. He developed Judge Dredd and is the writer-creator of many of its most popular stories such as Nemesis the Warlock, Sláine and ABC Warriors. He created – with John Wagner – Battle Weekly, birthplace of Charley's War, and Marshal Law with League of Extraordinary Gentlemen artist Kevin O'Neill. He's also written Doctor Who audio plays for Big Finish and continues working on his best-selling French graphic novel series Requiem, Vampire Knight.

Clint Langley started his career in the 1990’s. His images can be seen worldwide in comics, on novel covers and in the conceptual design for advertising and films. His first comic strip work was Dynosty, which appeared in 2000AD. He’s since worked on various comic strips such as Slaine, Judge Dredd and Warhammer.
