Publisher Rod Barzilay had the following to say about the current issue "Issue 12 has 2 scoops - First, Part 1 of a brand new, three part, Dan Dare story by Denis Steeper (called - Murder on Mars) starts. It is set some years after the Eagle stories when Dan is Controller of Spacefleet, and will give readers a taste of the deeper - more adult Dan Dare world that Denis has developed. Secondly, our centre pages have a brand new Bruce Cornwell Dan Dare painting (his first in 45 years!) showing the Zylbat, amongst other things. We also start a new series about some of our contributors, to tell readers a little about them - this time we feature Graham Bleathman. Plus, Jeremy Briggs tells us about the reality of Britain's Rocket Fleet; A reader has a surprise for Keith Page; Don Harley is back on Green Nemesis (he's drawn two pages this time) and all our regular strips continue apace. Part 13 is expected in October.

Colin Baker in Leeds

Shameless plug time. Colin Baker, the sixth Doctor Who, will be making a personal appearance at the Fab Cafe in Leeds on Sunday 12 August 2007. The event is co-organized by downthetubes contributor Ian Wheeler and should be a good one.

Colin is of course just about the only person we can think of who has both appeared in comic strips and written one.

New Comics International Issue No.202

It's been an unsettled few months for Comics International but the new issue is a corker. Down the Tubes writers Ian Wheeler and John Freeman, along with Dez Skinn, continue their look at comics based on cult TV shows by examining Danger Man (look out for The Prisoner soon).

There's also news of a new classic Star Trek comic, a superb feature on Spiderman 3 and Pat Mills talks about his revamp of MACH 1 (oh yes!). Nice issue, Mike!

Silver Surfer hits big Wheel

As part of the publicity blitz for the new FF movie ("Rise of the Silver Surfer") the London Eye was taken over by the Silver Surfer this week when he, literally, flew into it. This is the first time that the Eye has been used for publicity pranks like this but perhaps we see more in the future, Hulk smash London Eye for instance? Magneto, er...magnetise London Eye?

You get the idea.
