In Memoriam: Sir Jimmy Savile OBE

He may not have been a comics creator but Sir Jimmy Savile OBE entertained us all here at downthetubes for so many years that we wanted to mark his passing.

When DC Thomson released their new boy's comic Buddy in 1981, they used the centrespreads to feature two page comics biographies of well known celebrities. Issue 4 of Buddy dated March 7 1981 featured Jimmy Savile sitting in his Jim'll Fix It chair, sporting his ubiquitous cigar and addressing the readers to say that Buddy had fixed it for him to give an abbreviated version of his life up to that point.

On the day of Sir Jimmy's funeral at St Anne's Cathedral in Leeds, with respect and love, we present Buddy's Super Personality Series No.4 : Jimmy Savile.

Buddy is (c) DC Thomson and Co Ltd
